I guess all the money went to bribe officials who will then launder their money in west coast and FL real estate, and there wasn’t enough left for infrastructure.

Oh, I thought they were still buying higher end stuff in Miami. I know dirty money from that part of the world was once part of the real estate scene there (as the US authorities don’t care).

I am on the west coast, it’s all Chinese/Russian/Middle Eastern dirty money here. Ask no questions, the revenues from transactions and taxes forgive all sins.

No, they haven’t been buying at all since last November. The Miami real estate market is dependent on Latin America. The Brazilians have been selling their properties recently at losses. So prices are dropping and people are waiting for them to drop more before they buy.

London wasn’t too bad, everything was on time and ran smoothly, and most of the venues are currently in use.

London had more to work with also, I should think.

The F1 teams have to get to Interlagos now in guarded buses. They used to drive themselves but then they had a few road muggings or whatever you want to call it. My great uncle was an engineer and went down there to work, ended up staying and having a family. My 2nd cousin just came up here to SF as a graphic designer to work and he says it’s pretty fucked up in the cities.

I guess that makes sense, with the uncertainty at home. Another place that makes good ol Murka look not so bad.

I am on the west coast, where houses bought 25 years ago for under 200K can easily exceed 1MM. Dropping prices are an amusing thought (although condos don’t do as well, as usual).

That is a good report. I don’t have anything against Rio Dejenero in particular, just against the Olympic movement in general, and the many billions that a nation must pay to host a Games. Seems to me those billions could be much better spent.

For my part, I intend to studiously ignore the Olympics.

Those houses are still over a million even after the 2007-2010 financial crisis. It is odd now seeing the housing prices here drop 15% overall. Rent is getting slightly cheaper too.
